Most of you guys have seen my drawing/portrait thingy of Satchel. I really only drew a quick sketch of a profile view in my sketchbook, because I'm the worst at profile views. And then of course it had to be someone. Why not Satchel? I actually kinda liked it. Enough to scan it and color it digitally. Then a few months later when I met him, I showed it to him, he remembered seeing it MONTHS before on Twitter, and signed it for me. Now it's in Guitar World. AHHHH.
Every time my mom drags me to a grocery store or Walmart or whatever, I always pick up a copy of Guitar World to read through while I help shop. I've always wanted to submit a drawing, but never had any worthy drawings of a specific guitar player. Back in March or April, I was looking through the newest issue and thought of my Satchel drawing, and thought, why not? and e-mailed it to the address they gave.
A week ago a friend sent me a picture of it in the magazine, and I freaked out. I had no idea it happened, it was just THERE. So I went out and got my own copy, of course, and I can't believe it! I'm seriously soooo happy.
Not only that, but I posted about it on Twitter, and tagged Satchel in it, and he retweeted it! I know it seems like a lame thing to get excited over, but Satchel doesn't even go on Twitter that often, maybe just saying or retweeting someone every 4 or 5 days. But I'm so happy he saw it!
Last time I saw him (well, Russ, but, uh, same person) he was like "How're you and your beautiful art?" THAT is how my beautiful art is, bro.
Plus, on the 27th I was all sad because it was exactly a month since I last saw them, but also that day they ANNOUNCED THEY'D BE TOURING THE U.S. WITH JUDAS PRIEST IN THE FALL.
I'll probably see them in Allentown and Atlantic City. And I'm so doing VIP again. At least once.
